School Project & Refectory

A school kitchen and refectory (dining hall) are desperately needed for a Pallottine school southeast of Rwanda’s capital to provide the students there with one balanced meal each day. The project ensures that the children are healthy enough to learn and improves their prospects for the future.
„My goal is to implement this important project in the next one to two years.“

The Pallottine Sisters operate a school for some 2,000 students in Masaka, a southeastern suburb of the capital Kigali; the school also includes integrated classrooms.

These children need a balanced diet. To meet that need, plans have been drawn up for a new school kitchen, as the old kitchen is too far away, and the food often spoils in bad weather.

The sisters do not have the necessary funding for the school kitchen and refectory (approx. €410,000). Many donations - in some cases quite generous - have come in, totaling some €160,000.00 in just seven months.
The initial goal for the next one to two years is to build the kitchen itself and lay the foundation for the refectory (dining hall).

A good education begins with healthy nutrition, which must be guaranteed each and every day. Children must be well-fed and strengthened if they are to learn successfully, earn their diplomas, start a career or study at university - giving their country a future in the process.
