Turning old into new –
Homes for families in need

A new project is now being launched. In a very rural area of southwestern Rwanda, people often live in dilapidated old huts. Furthermore, sanitary conditions in these old dwellings leave much to be desired, and the huts are often far too small for a family.

Through the "Turning Old into New" project, new, sturdy houses are being built for them, providing a safe place to live.
„Donate and help out. The cost of a complete house is €2,000. Many thanks! Murakoze cyane!“

We work together to build new homes, enabling impoverished families to live in dignity. The new homeowners do not receive the houses as a gift; instead, they contribute their own labor to the construction and specific trades, to the extent of their capabilities.

On the ground, Dr. Uta Düll - German surgeon and religious sister based in the area - selects the families in need in collaboration with local community leaders.

Furniture is crafted by local artisans, and a portable cooking stove allows for cooking outside the house as well.
The cement-reinforced mud bricks are produced on-site and sun-dried. When rain threatens, the molded bricks are covered with tarps.

The cost of a complete house amounts to €2,000.
